With the recent publication of the Waste Data Interrogator by the EA, we have had a quick dive into what’s changed since last year when we did a similar quick analysis of the Data.

What we can see from the data is that there is an overall increase of some 16.3 million tonnes of waste since 2020. That the amount of waste going to landfill overall has gone up by just over 3 million tonnes, conversely the amount of waste being reported as going to Incineration has only gone up by just under 700 thousand tonnes and with just over 5.5 million tonnes being sent to some form of treatment facility.
