Riverside 1 identified a requirement to undertake more extensive sampling and analysis of their waste input across multiple customers with a view to better understand the potential implications of the UK ETS

The solution required composition and chemical analysis of representative samples both at the EFW tipping hall and back at the laboratory on a monthly basis over a 12-month period to assess variation over time, sampling approach and sampling methodology. It also incorporated the evaluation of the interpretation of this data against three methods for assessing the fossil and non-fossil carbon content of the input waste.

Monksleigh provided a turn-key solution, including arranging and coordinating the sampling and chemical analysis with a partner MCERTS laboratory, as well as managing data capture and storage solutions alongside platforms that converted and compared the various approaches to assess the fossil carbon emissions and compare that to C14 undertaken on emissions from the site’s stack.
